**Cherry blossom illumination:** During the 10-day festival (late March–early April, dates vary annually), the castle grounds receive evening illuminations transforming the cherry trees and stone walls into a dramatic night scene. The moat reflections double the visual impact. Arrive by 18:30 to claim spots near the main gate before crowds peak at 19:00. The illumination creates warm golden light on the white cherry blossoms — bring a tripod for long-exposure photography. **Inari Yagura viewpoint:** The reconstructed watchtower provides the best elevated perspective of the castle grounds and Kofu Basin. On clear winter mornings (December–February), Mt. Fuji is visible from the top platform approximately 50km to the southeast. The viewpoint also overlooks the cherry tree canopy during bloom season — an aerial perspective unavailable from ground level. **Museum annex collection:** The small museum inside the castle grounds displays Takeda-era samurai armor, including a reproduction of Takeda Shingen's iconic red-laced armor. The sword collection includes several blades from Kamakura-period swordsmiths. English explanations are limited, but the visual impact of the armor displays is significant. Photography is prohibited inside. **Combine with Kofu Wine Kingdom:** After visiting the castle, walk 10 minutes south to the Kofu Wine Kingdom basement shop in the civic center — a wine shop selling 200+ Yamanashi wines with free tasting stations. Sample 5–10 Koshu white wines for comparison. Open 10:00–19:00, closed Mondays.
